Aber was very good indeed. I met Midge and we got married in Aber and had a wonderful reception at the White Lion in Talybont, then 4 children including Katy born in Bronglais and 45 years later we now have 8 grandchildren (2 live in Stockholm and 2 in Vienna) and it is wonderful to keep up with the 4+8.
The boring stuff has also gone well.
I did my PhD at Aber then went to work in Maritime Studies in UWIST Cardiff and then on to the Outer Hebrides to be a transport and economic development officer running ferries and inter-island air services and then to Lancaster University ending up as Prof and Head of Department of Geography.
It then got even messier with 15 years as the MD of a transport consultancy company, 8 years as a Green Party city councillor and Visiting professorships in Liverpool John Moores Uni, Roskilde (DK), Essen (Germany) and the Stockholm Environment Institute.
We now live in Shropshire in Church Stretton (Shropshire Hills AONB) and so-called “retirement” is busier than ever.
