Dennis has provided me with the following:
"With regards to family matters, Babs and I now have 6 grandchildren (ranging from 11 down to almost 3) with each of our 3 children having a boy and girl each. Mari the eldest and her family live in Creigiau, Gareth and family in Victoria Park (Cardiff), and Sian and family in Birmingham. The only remaining parent that Babs and I have is her 96 year old father who now resides in a nearby care home having moved from Llanelli 20 years ago with Babs' mother (who died in February this year at the age of 95) to live in a small bungalow in Waunfawr (behind Cwrt Mawr) to be near Babs as their only child. For many years now Babs and I have been in the 'generational sandwich'."
I think several of us can empathise with being in the generational sandwich. Dennis then later pointed me towards a much abbreviated post-retirement academic profile (together with a slightly dated photograph - his words) which is to be found on his departmental webpage.
